Adult Education Program - Technology Coach (Basic Computers)

All levels. Assist in a group setting by supporting non-literate to semi-literate refugee and immigrant adults in improving their understanding of basic computers. Tutors will help an instructor teach the basic parts of a computer, how to use the Internet, Word and Excel and perform job searches in order to increase their overall technological literacy.

You must be at least 18 years of age with no criminal history. Flexibility and interest in new cultures is a must. This program serves English Language Learners age 16 years and older, primarily from the East African community, offering the opportunity to acquire English skills and earn a high school diploma. Mentor a new American youth or adult by spending time with them each week and helping improve the literacy skills they need to advance in their new home country.

Additional Comments:  Program hours are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers are needed once a week for between one and four hours.
