Adult Education Program - English Language Tutor
Beginner to Low Intermediate Levels. Provide one to one, small group or multilevel classroom instruction to refugee and immigrant adults, ages 21-90. Examples of class work include spelling, basic alphabet, reading, conversation practice, grammar and handwriting. Assist a teacher with break out groups or one to one remedial support.
Experience/Skills:
You must be at least 18 years of age with no criminal history. Flexibility and interest in new cultures is a must. This program serves English Language Learners age 16 years and older, primarily from the East African community, offering the opportunity to acquire English skills and earn a high school diploma. Mentor a new American youth or adult by spending time with them each week and helping improve the literacy skills they need to advance in their new home country.
