Volunteers of America’s Senior Nutrition is focused on meeting the nutritional and social wellness needs of people ages 60 and up, enabling them to enjoy a healthful, independent and enriched lifestyle.  We offer congregate dining (lunch at lots of community locations) and home delivered meals.

Senior Dining:

Our Senior Dining service offers a full, nutritionally balanced, sit-down style lunch with varied menu options, to people age 60 and up.  These lunches are served hot, Monday through Friday, at 30 locations in Hennepin and Anoka counties.  Ethnic specialty menu options are available at some locations.  Diners are asked to contribute $3.25 per lunch, however they may contribute what they can afford.  No one is ever denied a meal because of inability to pay.

Hot Home Delivered Meals:

Home delivered meals are offered to homebound individuals who need hot meals delivered to their door.  Many of these meals are delivered directly from our dining sites and others are delivered through community-based programs such as Meals on Wheels.

Frozen Home Delivered Meals:

We are looking for individuals who are age 60 and over, who are primarily shut-in and are unable to shop or cook for themselves on a regular basis. For a donation amount (suggested is $3.25 per meal), the Senior Nutrition Program can deliver five frozen meals, once a week. Because the meals are frozen, recipients must have and be able to use a microwave oven. For more information, please contact Nancy Christianson at 612-617-7845 or nchristianson@voamn.org.
