The Volunteers of America of Minnesota Mental Health Clinics’ Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Mental Health program offers culturally and language specific mental health services for deaf, deaf/blind and hard of hearing youth (birth to age 22) who experience significant difficulty due to emotional or behavioral problems, and their families.
Our comprehensive program offers intensive therapeutic, skill building and rehabilitative services to help strengthen the emotional, behavioral and social functioning of DHH youth and their families. This includes improving school performance, increasing school attendance and improving their ability to function well within their families and in the community.
The DHH Mental Health program staff is composed of highly trained mental health professionals who are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and are familiar with deaf culture. They have a broad range of understanding about the physical and mental health needs of deaf, deaf/blind and hard of hearing children and adolescents and how these needs influence school and family life. Consultation, support and direct service is also available from the multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals in the Volunteers of America of Minnesota Mental Health Clinics.
