Families and seniors
Located on Nicollet Mall in the heart of Minneapolis, Nicollet Towers is a 306 unit multi-family apartment building managed by Volunteers of America - Minnesota that offers housing to seniors and families. The two-tower complex, within walking distance of the convention center, churches and bus line, was rededicated in 2012, following a five-year $18 million renovation. The roof and all windows were replaced and nearly a quarter of a million bricks were removed for a vapor barrier to be applied, with new bricks replaced to match the old. The building's mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded, including a new heating and cooling system, fire alarm system and corridor lighting. About half the apartment units received new kitchen cabinets, counter-tops sinks and flooring. The investment has returned annual energy savings of more than $100,000.
The building offers:
- One, two and three bedroom apartments
- Controlled entry system
- Handicapped units
- Underground parking
- Subsidized rent at 30% of income
- Courtyard with garden spaces
- Senior congregate dining
- NAPS food program
