Volunteers of America-Minnesota Welcomes Katie Wornson to its Board of Directors

(Minneapolis, Dec. 21)—Volunteers of America-Minnesota (VOA-MN), a nonprofit human service organization headquartered in Edina, is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Wornson to its Board of Directors. VOA-MN’s voluntary Board of Directors is composed of 17 members.

“Volunteers of America-Minnesota’s staff and its current Board are pleased to welcome Katie to the organization. She brings important perspective and extensive experience in the area of advocacy for people with disabilities,” said Paula Hart, President and Chief Executive Officer of Volunteers of America-Minnesota. “We look forward to Katie’s insights and guidance as we seek to enhance our impact on the people and communities we serve.”

Katie Wornson is the director of social services for Rise Home Health Care, LLC, a company that she helped to found earlier in 2011. She is a licensed social worker and has done extensive advocacy work with legislators at the state capitol to ensure that people with disabilities have a voice.  Katie’s work experience includes positions with the Minnesota State Council on Disability, Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities, Commonbond, Inc., and Courage Center. Katie received a Bachelor of Science degree in social work and a minor in sociology from Augsburg College.
