Karin is Giving Back
“Ever since becoming part of a service learning group at school, I have participated in a bunch of different volunteer projects at school, through my church, and through the (Volunteers of America of MInnesota) Action Team. I found out that it’s both fun and rewarding to help people who need it. Volunteering makes me feel good.
My favorite volunteer project was participating in the Volunteers of America of Minnesota Adopt-A-Family campaign for at-risk families. As an Action Team Captain, I helped to arrange for students from St. Paul Academy to adopt a total of twenty entire families during the holidays. We received wish lists from each family and had an awesome time shopping for the perfect gifts for each family member. I like to shop – but this experience was much more than just shopping. Afterward, we received really sweet thank you notes from each family telling us how meaningful our gifts were to them. That made me feel really good.”
