Description
The Volunteers of America of Minnesota Mental Health Clinics’ Home-based/CTSS (Children’s Therapeutic Services and Support) Program offers strengths-based, family-centered mental health services for emotionally disturbed (ED), or severely emotionally disturbed (SED) children, adolescents and their families.  Services focus on improving a youth’s functioning at home, at school, within the context of the family and/or in the community.

Specific Home-based/CTSS Program Services include comprehensive diagnostic assessment, treatment planning with family involvement, individual and family skills building, individual and family therapy.

Our Home-based/CTSS staff is composed of highly trained, experienced, culturally competent, mental health professionals and practitioners that coordinate services with other mental health and CTSS providers.  They utilize resources within a youth’s extended family members and community such as, county workers, schools/IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), doctors, mentors, Personal Care Attendants, churches, and any other parties with a vested interest in the success of the youth and family.  Additionally, consultation, support and direct service is available from the multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals in the Volunteers of America of Minnesota Mental Health Clinics.  This is especially valuable when the child needs psychiatric or psychological assessment services.

The Volunteers of America Mental Health Clinics are Minnesota Department of Human Services licensed Rule 29 Mental Health Clinics and are accredited by the Council on Accreditation.  Additionally, we are a DHS certified provider of Children’s Therapeutic Services and Support (CTSS) with local certification in several counties including Anoka, Benton, Hennepin, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Ramsey, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright.

Home-based/CTSS Program Services
Our Home-based/CTSS services assist youth in returning to a previously attained level of functioning, achieving a new level of functioning, preventing out-of-home placement, transitioning successfully from out-of-home placement back into the home or community and maintaining success.

Our services are designed to meet the youth’s needs based on a comprehensive diagnostic assessment which describes the youth’s strengths, family system and history, cultural needs, functioning difficulties across settings, diagnostic categories and associated symptoms, and recommendations for specific therapy and skills building treatment areas.

The youth and family participate in developing a treatment plan together, and include collaboration with all other parties the youth and family are working with.  Treatment plans are evaluated at least every three months to measure progress, identify new areas to address, and make changes to the plan in order to improve success in treatment goal areas.
