Frank: You Can’t Stump Frank

“Frank” (not his real name), age 78, previously lived alone in a New York City apartment.  He did not have many close friends, and all of his family members were living in other cities.  Frank did not socialize much and as a result was isolated and showed signs of depression.

Frank decided to move to Minneapolis to live with his granddaughter about a year ago.  Shortly after moving to the Twin Cities, Frank visited the North DayElders program and now attends the DayElders once a week.  Since then, both his mood and attitude have improved greatly.

Frank looks forward to spending time with others his own age and enjoys the structured activities offered at North DayElders.  He especially likes to participate in "Brain Games” and says that he studies the night before so that he knows the answers for the trivia questions.  Trivia time at North DayElders is now known as the "Stump Frank Game.”

Frank is very active in all group discussions and looks forward to seeing his friends each week.  He has such high praise for North DayElders that his granddaughter plans to bring him to the program him an extra day each week.  Frank clearly benefits from the socialization and activities provided at North DayElders program.  His health has improved and his depression has all but vanished.  Frank clearly shows signs of enhanced wellbeing.
