Children and Family Services

Mental Health Clinics & Case Management

In our Children and Family Services programs, we take some of the hardest to serve children and youth – some abused, some neglected, others with emotional and behavioral problems –  and help them stabilize their lives. We work to provide these children, and their families, with the skills and supports needed to gain control of their lives and have choices about their futures. When we say we are changing lives we really mean it.

Each year Volunteers of America of Minnesota helps 1,258 children find stability. All of these children have experienced things in their young lives that most of us can’t imagine. The difference we are making helps to give them a chance at a life – a chance like what we would wish for our own daughters, sons, and grandchildren. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to build our program to achieve some of the best results in our state – all while serving children that many others have given up on.

Christopher’s story is typical of many of children we serve. His life was in turmoil, he didn’t understand why he was different. His frustration was enormous and he was unable to manage his anger. When life spun out of control, he found a place to heal. Volunteers of America’s Mental Health Clinics and Case Management Programs gave Chris a path home again. Now he is on his way to living a better life – a life he never could have imagined.
