Thank you for making Adopt a Family 2009 our biggest and best year ever!

2009 was a tough year for a lot of people.
Here at VOA we were bracing ourselves for a major decrease in the number of people we’d be able to help though our Adopt a Family program. But to our surprise, 2009 ended up being our biggest year ever! 525 sponsor groups, up from 330 last year, “adopted” over 2,500 people in need, up from 1,900 last year. This number represents over 310 families, 675 at-risk children and teens, 320 isolated seniors, and 105 individual adults—all who would have simply gone without gifts this year if it wasn’t for generous and caring sponsors from our community.

“Adopt a Family is a really wonderful reminder...
that there are still so many good, kind-hearted people out there” is a phrase we kept hearing over and over again throughout the Adopt a Family process. Thank you to all our sponsors for purchasing, wrapping, and delivering gifts for those in need, and for reminding us all how truly blessed we are to be a part of a community that pulls together to make such a difference for so many people, even when times are especially tough.
