Joan is a 94-year old widow who has lived in her Minneapolis Public Housing highrise apartment for about 16 years.  She has no children or other family support. 

The Volunteers of America Highrise Social Service program staff assisted Joan with arranging for services that have helped Joan remain independent and in her own home.  These services included housekeeping, foot care, home delivered meals, Lifeline, transportation to doctor visits and a home care nurse.  Additionally, they assisted Joan with completing paperwork and sorting through health insurance papers and medical bills. 

Joan remains healthy and is pleased that she can remain independent and live in the comfort of her own home.
