“Christina” was 16-years old when she was admitted to Children's Residential Treatment Center (CRTC) because of significant emotional and behavioral problems that had not responded to previous interventions.
“Christina” had been hospitalized three times due to depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide. Her history included significant self-injuring behaviors including cutting. Without intervention, “Christina” was at significant risk of continuing these behaviors because of her limited coping, problem solving, impulse control and affect management skills.
While in our program, “Christina” gained insight into her depression, resolved issues of low self-worth and developed increased emotional awareness. She acquired positive coping skills, made a commitment to eliminate self-injuring behaviors from her life, and learned to identify and express her emotions in healthier ways.
At discharge from Children’s Residential Treatment Center, “Christina” said, “You guys know what you are doing. Everyone was helpful. I had a lot of fun [at CRTC] and got a lot accomplished too.”
