Although only in her early 20’s, “Jane” had been arrested over 20 times for prostitution and spent long periods in jail. Prior to participating in the WRC, she had been to residential drug treatment ten times. She considered herself addicted to crack, and used alcohol, marijuana, both powder and crack cocaine all within the six-months before coming to the Women’s Recovery Center (WRC).
During her residency at the WRC, “Jane” was very motivated and participated fully in all aspects of the program. As her graduation neared, she returned to the court to say good-bye to the judge and gave a speech to a packed courtroom about the benefits of chemical dependency treatment at the WRC.
In the month before her graduation, “Jane” applied and was accepted to a private college. Upon leaving the WRC, she immediately began classes and is now working toward her degree.
